Privacy policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rousseau Plant Care LTD ("Rousseau", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit rousseauplant.care (the "Site"), buy something from us, or otherwise interact with us. It also explains the choices you have about that information.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you place an order, create an account, sign up for our emails or texts, leave a product review, join our affiliate program, or contact us, we collect what you provide: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, payment details (handled by our payment processors, not stored by us), order history, review content, and the contents of your messages to us.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect information about your device and how you use the Site: your IP address, browser and device type, time zone, approximate location derived from your IP address, the pages and products you view, what you add to your cart, what referred you to the Site, and how you interact with pages. We collect this using cookies, log files, and pixels (small pieces of code that record activity on the Site).

How we use it

  • To fulfill your orders: processing payment, shipping, sending order confirmations and shipping updates, handling returns and warranty claims.
  • To run the Site and keep it working, including screening orders for fraud (we use your IP address for this in particular).
  • To understand how people use the Site and improve it.
  • To communicate with you, including answering support requests.
  • To send you marketing emails or texts, if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe any time using the link in any email or by replying STOP to any text.
  • To advertise our products to you and to people like you, including on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram), and to measure whether that advertising works.
  • To run our affiliate and referral program, when you take part in it.
  • To comply with the law and protect our rights.

Advertising and the Meta Pixel

We use Meta's advertising tools, including the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API, to run and measure ads on Facebook and Instagram. When you use the Site, these tools send Meta information about the actions you take, such as viewing a product, adding it to your cart, starting checkout, and completing a purchase, along with your IP address, browser information, and any Meta cookies on your device.

To help Meta match this activity to a Meta account, we may also send Meta customer information you have given us, such as your name, email address, phone number, city, state, zip code, and country. This information is hashed (scrambled) before it is sent so that Meta only receives it in an unreadable form, and Meta deletes it after matching. Meta uses this data as described in its Privacy Policy and to improve its own advertising products. This sharing may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or "targeted advertising", under some U.S. state privacy laws. See Your choices below for how to opt out.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with service providers that help us run the business. They may only use it to provide services to us.

  • Shopify powers our store, checkout, and analytics. Read how Shopify uses your personal information.
  • Payment processors (including Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, and PayPal) handle your payment details. We never see your full card number.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for advertising, as described above.
  • Google, through the Google & YouTube channel, for analytics and advertising measurement using the Google tag. Read Google's privacy policy and see how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
  • Email and SMS platforms (Klaviyo and Mailchimp) send our marketing and transactional messages.
  • Judge.me collects and displays product reviews, including your name and review text if you post one.
  • Shipping and fulfillment services (including ShipStation and the carriers they connect to) receive your name, address, and phone number to deliver your order.
  • Affiliate software (UpPromote) tracks referrals for our affiliate program using a cookie, and stores affiliate contact and payout details.
  • Accounting software (QuickBooks) receives order and invoice records.
  • Other tools on the Site, such as pop-ups for email sign-up and embedded Instagram content, may set their own cookies.

We may also share information to comply with the law, respond to a subpoena or other lawful request, protect our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. We do not sell your personal information for money.

Cookies

We use three kinds of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential cookies make the Site work: keeping items in your cart, remembering your session, securing checkout. These cannot be turned off.
  • Analytics cookies help us understand how the Site is used.
  • Advertising cookies (including Meta's) let us show you relevant ads and measure them.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of the Site, including checkout, may stop working. We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising where the law requires it.

Your choices

  • Opt out of targeted advertising and data sharing. Use the "Do not sell or share my personal information" link in the footer of the Site, or turn on the Global Privacy Control in your browser.
  • Manage Meta ads. Adjust your Meta ad preferences, and see Meta's page on how it uses data from other businesses.
  • Industry opt-outs. Visit the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org.
  • Marketing messages. Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email. Stop texts by replying STOP.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you and get a copy of it.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete your personal information, with some exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax purposes).
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@rousseauplant.care with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We will verify your request by matching the details you give us against our records, and we will respond within the time the applicable law requires. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf if you give them written permission and we can verify your identity. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.

Residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights above. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing our products and services. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Residents of Canada. We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent or as permitted by law, and you may withdraw consent for marketing at any time. Your information may be stored and processed in the United States, where privacy laws differ from Canada's. You may request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting us.

Data retention

We keep order records for as long as we need them for our records, tax and legal obligations, and warranty support. We keep marketing data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep other personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections across the Site and checkout, and we limit access to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Do Not Track

We do not change our data practices in response to a "Do Not Track" browser signal, because there is no agreed standard for it. We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal as described above.

Children

The Site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we will change the date at the top. Material changes will be posted on the Site.
